TalkSport pundits make bold relegation prediction on ‘excellent’ Leeds United

Leeds United have scored four points from their opening three games, which include a win over Everton and a draw against Newcastle United at home. The solid start to the season should give them confidence to build on it after the international break.

The Whites won promotion to the Premier League by winning the Championship last season. However, they are trying to buck the recent trend of promoted teams struggling in the top flight and going straight back down after just one year in the Premier League.

A terrible end to the transfer window and a lack of cutting edge in attack has led to suggestions that Leeds could prove the predictions right at the start of the season and get relegated back to the top flight after just one season in the top flight.

Leeds are in the bottom three of several predictions, but two talkSPORT pundits have come out and backed the club to finish comfortably above the relegation zone at the end of the season.

Leeds United are backed to stay up in the Premier League

Rory Jennings and Ade Oladipo sat down to predict the Premier League table once the transfer window closed last week, and inevitably, the fate of the promoted teams was discussed.

Jennings, a Chelsea fan, backed all three promoted teams to stay up, something that has only happened four times in the Premier League era.

He stressed that he sees no reason why Leeds and Sunderland should get relegated and backed the Whites to finish 16th in the league, just above Burnley.

Oladipo predicted Sunderland and Burnley to go straight back down, but believes Leeds will finish 15th and survive in the top flight.

“I have seen enough in Leeds, I thought their 0-0 draw against Newcastle was excellent”, Jennings said on the prediction video on his YouTube channel.

“I have seen enough in Sunderland; Burnley is tricky, but I believe they will do it by the skin of their teeth.

“Sunderland and Leeds, I don’t feel they are too difficult to make a case; I have got Leeds United in 16th.

“I have got Leeds in 15th”, said Ade Oladipo.

Leeds have a decent run of games ahead of them

Leeds played against two of last season’s top five, but they have still managed to put four points on the board. They have an easier run of games, on paper, ahead of the October international break.

The Whites have back-to-back away games against Fulham and Wolves lined up after the break, before they take on Bournemouth and Tottenham at home just before the October break.

The Cottagers have not made a great start to the season, and Wolves are being touted as one of the candidates to get relegated this season.

Leeds will back themselves to get something from the home games against Bournemouth and Tottenham.
