Nuggets could target 17-year NBA veteran before new season

Kevin Love, 37, is expected to be traded or bought out by the Utah Jazz before the 2025-26 season begins, with the Denver Nuggets mentioned as a potential destination.

Kevin Love is unlikely to start the season with the Utah Jazz, who are coming off a league-worst 17–65 record.

The 37-year-old forward was acquired on July 7 in a three-team trade that sent Norman Powell to Miami and John Collins to the Clippers, with Love landing in Utah on an expiring $4.15 million deal.

According to Marc Stein, Love has been exploring ways out of Utah, including a possible buyout. Now, Bennett Durando of The Denver Post reports that Love is "widely expected to be traded or bought out" before opening night.

Durando also mentioned Denver as a potential destination, pointing to Love's connection with Nuggets head coach David Adelman, who worked with him in Minnesota early in his career.

Love is also believed to be interested in big-market opportunities, with both the Lakers and Clippers in the mix.

Entering his 18th NBA season, Love has shifted into more of a mentor role. Last year with Miami, he appeared in 23 games and averaged 5.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists. A five-time All-Star, he won the 2016 championship with the Cavaliers.
