Packers’ Jordan Love sends strong NFC North message after dismantling Lions

Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers areoff to a great start to their 2025 NFL campaign.

On Sunday, Green Bay took down Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Fieldfor a 27-13 victory. Unlike in 2024, when they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil, Love and company took care of business right from the get-go for a 1-0 record.

“Obviously, I think a big goal for us was to be able to come in here and start the season off fast and start the season on the right note,” Love said after the contest, per the Associated Press (h/ESPN). “To come in here Week 1 at home and get a dominant win like that is amazing and exactly what we’d been working for.”

The former Utah State Aggies star quarterback also shared the focus he and the team have on their desire and mission to stamp their class on the NFC North division.

“Big picture. I mean, it starts, it all starts with NFC North. So to have a North team come in here Week 1, be able to get the job done, go [1-0] in the North is the start we wanted right there,” Love told reporters (h/t97.3 The Game).

“But big, big just picture for us right now is. Super Bowl is down the road. But it all starts with the NFC North. So we got to go out there and obviously get off to a better start than we did last year. And I think it starts with what we did today.”

Love went 16-of-22 for 188 passing yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions. He was well protected as well, as he did not get sacked once by Detroit’s defense that just got Aidan Hutchinson back.

Up next for the Packers is a meeting with an NFC East squad when they host Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders.
