Leeds United are being linked with a move for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Daniel Farke's side have enjoyed a mixed start to their return to the Premier League following their promotion from the Championship.
The Whites have four points from their first three matches and beat Everton in their opening fixture of the campaign. In the background, the summer transfer window saw Leeds make several new additions to their squad with new signings.
Centre forward was a position Leeds looked to strengthen with Noah Okafor, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha arriving . It seems, though, that United still have plans to add more options to their forward line.
Caught Offside have reported that Mateta is a target for Leeds heading into the January transfer window, and is valued at around £40million. However, Farke and Co. will have to fend off competition from Newcastle and Aston Villa to sign the Palace striker, it has been claimed.
The report claims that Leeds want to add more reinforcements to their attacking options, which is leading them to show an interest in Mateta. The 28-year-old already has three goals to his name for Palace this season and got 17 in all competitions last term, which led to plenty of interest in his signature during the summer transfer window.
Leeds also allowed some of their centre-forward options to leave the club in the summer. Patrick Bamford left Elland Road after a mutual agreement was reached for him to be released from his contract a year in advance, while Mateo Joseph and Joe Gelhardt all completed loan moves away from United.
