Kobbie Mainoo needs to prove his worth.
Kobbie Mainoo has reported Manchester United that he has intentions of leaving the club on loan. Fighting for a spot in the starting 11 is the main challenge for Kobbie now. The spot is currently occupied the Red Devils skipper Bruno Fernandes which makes it even more difficult. United have reportedly neglected his request on leaving the club. Clubs’ manager Ruben Amorim has stated in an interview that they need Kobbie, and he wants him to stay and fight for his place in the starting 11. These words suggest that he has further plans for Kobbie in United and cannot let him go just like that.
Is United wasting a potential?
Kobbie Mainoo was benched the first two opening games in the Premier League. He didn’t get a single minute in both the games and resulted in a draw and loss for United. Kobbie only started the Carabao Cup against Grimsby Town but unfortunately United lost the game. The youngster was a crucial player for United for the 2023-24 season. He had 32 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions scoring 5 goals. He also scored the second goal against Man City in the FA cup final which resulted in their 2-1 victory. As Mainoo is an academy grown player, United are reluctant to sell him unless they get an appropriate deal.
🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Kobbie Mainoo is DETERMINED to leave Manchester United before tomorrow's deadline. He doesn't want to be Bruno Fernandes' understudy and wants regular football ahead of the World Cup!

Players are leaving United.
Players future at Man United in current time is very uncertain. The team is lacking performance. Players are too much frustrated. This causing the players to look for other options in order to bounce back in their career. On the other hand the Argentine forward Alejandro Garnacho has left United to join Chelsea on a £40 million fee. Side by side Rasmus Hojlund has also competed a loan move to the Italian side Napoli. He will be playing alongside Kevin De Bruyne and Scott McTominay.
Is Kobbie Mainoo drifting away from the purpose?
Kobie Mainoo’s contract at United is until 2027 and an option to extend it for a further year. His intentions were clear but he doesn’t want to leave the club permanently. He reached his performance peak in his debut season only starting nearly every game for United till the finish. He was so good under Ten Hag’s system that the England national team called him up for the Euros 2024. His career started to fall off when he got a muscle injury in the middle of 2024-25 season. That was the turning point which costed him playing minutes under Ruben Amorim’s time. During the time Amorim got his midfield duo which consisted of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro and Ugarte as their potential replacement. In this packed up team it is a very tough job for him to earn his place overcoming Bruno.
Authors Opinion.
For my opinion, I would say that Amorim should consider him for a loan move or let him get some proper play time. He is a youngster and keen to play football it will be totally unfair to not give him the proper time he needs. There are also other players that cannot perform to the point in this United team but he is still making them start the game. Kobbie Mainoo just started his career and for a minor injury it is unfair to take away his game time. There were many allegations on Ten Hag but one thing he did, he always trusted on the youngsters. Amorim need to do that as well. Just because they are academy grown player doesn’t mean that they will have to sit and listen to everything the manager is saying even though sometimes it is wrong. United is going through a tough stage and I think Amorim should give him the proper playtime in order to bring out that player from him as he is a world class talent. And it would be a shame not to use him.
