Teen sensation Harry Gray has been shortlisted for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for August. The precociously talented striker, who made his Leeds United senior debut at the back end of last season, has made a strong start to the 2025/26 season.
The 16-year-old notched a brace for the Under-21s in their 3-0 win away at Aston Villa. He then registered in 3-2 defeat to Ipswich Town at Thorp Arch.
Gray capped off a stellar August by netting a late winner to seal a 2–1 victory over Burnley U21s at Turf Moor. His late strike helped the Clarets move up to eighth place after three matches.
Gray faces competition for the prize from Chelsea's Shumaira Mheuka, Brighton and Hove Albion duo Shane Nti and Charlie Tasker, Tottenham Hotspur's Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny, Arsenal's Charles Sagoe and Leicester City pair Mirsad Ali and Kevon Gray.
After signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha to bolster their forward line before the start of the Premier League season, Daniel Farke made his feelings clear on Gray. “The plan is to move to focus away from him and not speak about him too much," said Farke. "He's a 16-year-old youngster.
"I won’t speak too much about him in the future because it’s difficult when you play for Leeds United with his last name aged 16 when the whole stadium is singing your name and everyone expects him to celebrate once we got promoted like he was the only one promoted. It’s not healthy for the development of the young player.
"My message is leave him alone a little bit and give him time to grow and develop. This is the last time for a while I will speak about Harry in a press conference."

BOXT partnership renewed
United have today confirmed they have renewed their partnership with BOXT, the award-winning British home energy installer. In previous years, BOXT have been the club's front-of-shirt or sleeve sponsors across first team kits but those slots have since been taken by Red Bull and sports betting and gaming company Parimatch respectively.
But BOXT’s partnership with the Leeds United Foundation will continue into this season with the aim of helping children gain greater access to sport and participating in local initiatives across the city. United say they hope to have a "lasting impact" on youngsters through initiatives during the school holidays by joining forces with BOXT.
Mel Butler, BOXT CEO and Co-Founder, said: "We are excited to announce our continued partnership with Leeds United for the 2025/26 season. We remain committed to supporting their Soccer Camps and look forward to resuming our annual charity sponsorship next summer. Additionally, we are eager to explore new opportunities that may arise throughout the year.
"Starting as a challenger brand back in 2017, we have now established BOXT as a nationwide heating and cooling installation company, and we’ve achieved all this by developing a straightforward online purchasing process, establishing a nationwide network of over 15,000 registered engineers, and providing customers with transparent, fixed-price quotes.
"As a proud Leeds-based company, we're thrilled to strengthen our connection with the club's loyal supporters. Here’s to another successful year together."
