Valkyries set all-time WNBA attendance record

The Golden State Valkyries set the all-time Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) records for average and total attendance last weekend.

The side has recorded an average attendance of 18,064 and 397,408 total fans at the Chase Center during its inaugural regular season.

Saturday (September 6) saw the Valkyries play their final home match of the regular season, with two more away games at Seattle and Minnesota to go.

The record for total fans beats Indiana Fever’s number of 349,313, which was also set this year.

Indiana Fever also previously held the record for average attendance with 17,036 set in 2024, as the Valkyries sold out each of their 22 home games this season.

“We have the best crowd, and I think we have the best fans in the league, hands down,” Valkyries coach Natalie Nakase said, as reported by The Mercury News.

The Valkyries have secured a playoff spot and are now aiming to gain a higher seeding. The team made WNBA history by becoming the first-ever expansion franchise to reach the playoffs in an inaugural season.
