911 call for a bad boyfriend hinted at risk for a vibrant and troubled woman: ‘She didn’t have to die.’ Three weeks before Nicole Azzoto was shot and killed by her boyfriend Anthony Price, Syracuse police responded to a 911 call about him threatening her with a gun. Despite neighbors witnessing abuse and Azzoto showing them bruises, police filed no charges after she denied the gun threat. Friends describe the 40-year-old hairstylist as vibrant and caring before addiction struggles isolated her from loved ones.

Syracuse University gets new ranking on top party schools list: SU ranks No. 7 on Niche’s 2026 list of top party schools in America, slipping slightly from last year’s No. 5 position. Students praise the university’s “work hard, party hard” culture, citing annual events like Block Party and Orange Central homecoming celebrations. Approximately one in four Syracuse students participates in Greek life, contributing to the school’s consistent recognition in party school rankings by publications including The Princeton Review and Playboy magazine.

Reasons to be encouraged/discouraged

Syracuse players kicked coaches out of locker room, then saved season: After a shaky start and trailing UConn at halftime, team leaders called a team-only meeting that sparked a turnaround. “We said, ‘Coaches. Exit,’” said starting right tackle Da’Metrius Weatherspoon. ”And then we all had a heart-to-heart with each other as a team. It was just play for each other and everything is going to work in the end.” Quarterback Steve Angeli overcame a big hit to throw for 417 yards, and freshman linebacker Antoine Deslauriers made crucial defensive plays in overtime to secure the 27-20 win.
