Andre Onana is set to leave Manchester United on loan for the remainder of the season.
After two years at Manchester United, Andre Onana has struggled for the most part, and it doesn’t seem like he has a future at the club under Ruben Amorim.
Onana joined United from Inter Milan in 2023 when Erik ten Hag chose the Cameroon international as David de Gea’s replacement.
It was a decision that would backfire because Onana flopped at United, despite establishing himself at Ajax and Inter Milan before following Ten Hag to Manchester.
A hamstring injury ruled Onana out of pre-season this summer, and he lost his place in the team at the beginning of the 2025/26 campaign. Turkey international Altay Bayindir has started the first three Premier League games, plus Senne Lammens has joined from Royal Antwerp.
This has led to Onana agreeing to join Trabzonspor on loan until the end of the season.

Andre Onana can take inspiration from Man City flop Stefan Savic
It is no secret that Onana’s transfer to United has not gone to plan.
The 29-year-old experienced more lows than highs during his time at Old Trafford, but his focus will be on resurrecting his career in Turkey ahead of a busy year for the Cameroon national team.

It is believed that Onana will receive a pay rise at Trabzonspor, which may lead to several United fans scratching their heads.

Anyhow, Onana can use his time at Trabzonspor to take inspiration from one of his new teammates, who turned their career around after being labelled a Premier League flop.
Former Man City defender Stefan Savic joined Trabzonspor last year when his time at Atletico Madrid came to an end.
Savic spent just one season in the Premier League, and it didn’t go to plan on an individual note, despite ending the campaign with a league medal in his pocket.
A transfer to Atletico Madrid saw Savic become one of the most respected centre-backs in Spain, as he benefited from Diego Simeone’s dogmatic style of management.
Onana can use this season to bounce back and put himself back on the market for when he returns to United, where it looks like Lammens will be the future first-choice goalkeeper.
Man Utd revamp goalkeeper department
With Onana on his way out of Old Trafford and Amorim set to name a new first-choice goalkeeper, the squad has witnessed a lot of changes in recent weeks.
Lammens and Bayindir are set to fight it out for the main spot, with Tom Heaton remaining as third choice.
It remains to be seen if Lammens will make his debut against Man City on Sunday.
One option to keep an eye on is Radek Vitek, impressing on loan at Bristol City.
