Arsenal and Crystal Palace have agreed a compensation package for teenage striker Dan Casey, according to Bobby Manzi of News Shopper.
The 18-year-old has opted for Selhurst Park after turning down a professional contract at the Emirates, a decision likely influenced by the crowded pathway to first-team football under Mikel Arteta.
Casey was prolific at youth level last season, scoring 18 goals in 21 appearances for Arsenal in the Under-18 Premier League.
It’s the second successive year the Gunners have lost a highly-rated academy forward, following Chido Obi-Martin’s move to Manchester United last October. In that instance, a tribunal determined the compensation fee.
Arsenal spent much of the summer trying to bolster their attacking options at academy level but failed to land either Will Wright, who joined Liverpool from Salford City, or Igor Tyjon, who chose to remain at Blackburn Rovers.
