Kylian Mbappe tips Arsenal to win the Premier League

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has publicly backed Arsenal to win the Premier League this season ahead of title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Gunners are on the hunt for their first Premier League title in 22 years, having finished as runners-up in the last three consecutive campaigns, twice behind Manchester City and once behind the current holders, Liverpool.

Just three games into the new Premier League season, Arsenal are already fighting an uphill battle after defeat at Anfield last time out has seen Arne Slot’s side establish a three-point gap over the Gunners, who sit third, also trailing second-place Chelsea by a point.

Despite Arsenal suffering this early setback, Mbappe still believes that this could be the year that the north London side finally end their long wait for a domestic league title.

Speaking to BILD during the current international break, the Frenchman said: “Liverpool has to be mentioned first and foremost [in the Premier League favourites discussion], but I also have high hopes for Arsenal, because the core of the team has known each other for a long time and that’s a crucial factor in football.”

“That’s tough [to pick one to win] — maybe Arsenal, maybe it will be their year,” he continued. “It would certainly be easier to say Manchester City or Liverpool.”

When they return from the international break next weekend, Arsenal face a tough Premier League encounter at home to Nottingham Forest, before travelling to Bilbao to kickstart their UEFA Champions League campaign against Athletic Club.

They will then follow this up with another Premier League match, this time at home to Manchester City, which could also prove hugely significant to the Gunners’ aspirations for the season ahead, even at such an early stage.
