Micah Parsons blasts ‘toxic’ Cowboys after making Packers debut

Micah Parsons made his debut with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, recording a sack in an impressive 27-13 win over the NFC North rival Lions.

Parsons has made it clear that he is happy to be in Green Bay, but the former Penn State star said after the game that he is still frustrated with the way he was treated by the Cowboys this offseason.

Dallas finally dealt Parsons to Green Bay in late August, just a week before the start of the NFL season.

“I’m telling you, like, this last six months was super draining, super toxic for everyone, you know what I mean,” Micah Parsons said postgame. “It’s something that I don’t think no player should have to go through.

“I think players’ fates should be decided earlier. I think the fact that I was traded a week before the season was really outrageous and rough.”

Parsons missed almost all of training camp while dealing with a back issue and was in no rush to get out and practice after requesting a trade.

It took nearly a month for the Cowboys to trade Parsons after his initial trade request was made.

While the former Harrisburg High School star did not like the Cowboys process in eventually moving him, he is happy to be in Green Bay.

The Packers looked like Super Bowl contenders with the way they played on Sunday, handling the Lions from start to finish.

“The trade is done. We got a win, we’re 1-0,” Parsons said. “Now I’m around some really great guys... a really great organization, a really great fanbase and a really great football team. So now we can put all the nonsense aside.”

The 26-year-old Parsons, who earned Pro Bowl honors each of his first four seasons in the NFL, played a limited number of snaps against the Lions as he is getting ramped up after missing most of training camp.

His workload should increase over the next few weeks as the Packers have games coming up against the Commanders and Browns, before playing at Dallas on Sept. 28.
