Latest data reveals Nottingham Forest's most valuable player, it's not Morgan Gibbs-White

The saga to keep Morgan Gibbs-White at Nottingham Forest showed just how important the Englishman is to the club, but the latest data revealed he is not the club’s most valuable.

Gibbs-White has struggled a little bit this season, but considering his age and talents, you would expect him to be Forest’s most valuable player.

The midfielder has frequently captained the side, and is consistently popping up with goals and assists.

Nottingham Forest spent big this summer, and there are quite a few new names in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad who could also be listed as most valuable.

In particular, Omari Hutchinson has come in as the club’s record transfer. However, despite the large outlay, he also misses out on the accolade.

However, new data has revealed that Forest’s most valuable player is actually someone who has been at the club since 2023.

Murillo is Nottingham Forest’s most valuable player

CIES Football Observatory has gone through each club and evaluated their most valuable asset.

The usual suspects such as Lamine Yamal, Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland all feature, with the Spaniard coming out as the most valuable in world football at a staggering estimate of €366-426 million (£317-370 million).

When it comes to Nottingham Forest’s most highly valued player, the numbers don’t quite reach those heights.

Brazilian centre-back Murillo tops the charts at the City Ground, with the data stating he is worth around €56-66 million (£48-57 million).

Murillo is ranked 26th on the list of each club’s most valuable player, and 11th when it comes to the Premier League.

Of course, this data only evaluates one player from each club with players such as Kylian Mbappe not listed due to Bellingham being valued higher for example.

Nottingham Forest would want much more than £57 million for Murillo

In truth, Nottingham Forest probably wouldn’t listen to any offers for Murillo as it stands.

The Brazilian has been a sensation for the club, and his partnership with Nikola Milenkovic was a major reason behind the Tricky Trees securing European football.

Barcelona are said to be keeping tabs on Murillo, but with him having a contract until 2029, it would take much more than the fee suggested by CIES Football Observatory.

Forest recently demanded a world-record fee for Murillo, and after what the club achieved last season, it wouldn’t be a surprise if that figure increased since then.
