Grading Keon Coleman's Week 1 breakout performance vs. Ravens

If the Bills had one standout player on offense Week 1 outside of MVP quarterback Josh Allen, it would be their second-year receiver Keon Coleman, who may have just had his breakout performance.

Coleman, who already has a fifth of his total receiving yards from 2024 after one game, scored a crucial touchdown with just under four minutes left in the fourth quarter. That touchdown brought the Bills within eight points, and set up their incredible comeback on their next two possessions.

Coleman's final statline included 8 receptions for 112 yards and a score, good for 14 yards-per-reception. It is the best game of his young career, and Coleman is rewarded for his efforts with an A grade in Week 1.

Keon Coleman shines in Bills' Week 1 comeback win

In 2024, Coleman had a soft breakout game against the Titans in Week 7, when he exploded for a career-high 125 yards on four receptions. However, last night's game feels much more like Coleman's true breakout.

For one, the game last year against the Titans was a 1 p.m. kickoff in mid-October featuring a 4-2 Bills squad taking on a 1-4 Titans team. The game was not nationally televised, held very little meaning, and was not competitive. Buffalo poured 34 points on an uncompetitive Tennessee team.

Plus, while Coleman did set his career-high in yards, he didn't find the endzone in that game. And he didn't follow-up that game with anything special.

Last night's game checks all the boxes. It was on primetime televison in front of a national audience. It was a meaningful game against one of the Bills' biggest rivals for the AFC No. 1 seed. It was a close game, finishing 41-40. And it featured Coleman's best overall statistical performance of his career. He set a career-high in receptions, had his second 100-yard game, and scored a game-altering touchdown.

Keon Coleman could be the breakout star of the Bills season if he can keep this up, but for now, he's a Week 1 hero.
