Andre Onana has endured a difficult Manchester United career and it appears he is on his way out of the club.

The Cameroon goalkeeper is currently on international duty and featured for the Indomitable Lions in a win over Eswatini but simmering in the background has been the prospect of a move to Trabzonspor.

The Turkish side want to bring Onana to Papara Park on loan and have the opportunity to do so with the Super Lig transfer window still open until September 12.

Onana has yet to feature in the Premier League this season after a summer recovering from injury, and his return to action in the Carabao Cup saw him make two significant errors as United crashed out of the competition.

Transfer deadline day saw Ruben Amorim handed a new goalkeeper too as Senne Lammens arrived at Old Trafford from Royal Antwerp in a deal worth £18.2million (plus add-ons).

And now, Onana's stay in Manchester appears it could be at an end just two years on from United splashing £47.2m on the shotstopper who had helped Inter Milan to the Champions League final.

Here, The Manchester Evening News brings you a round up of the latest news surrounding Onana's exit.

'Deal agreed'

The BBC report that Onana has agreed to make the temporary switch to Turkey after Manchester United and Trabzonspor came to terms over a deal at the weekend. The Athletic have reported that the move across Europe will have no loan fee or an option to buy.

There is hope from the club that Onana will arrive in time to play Fenerbahce this weekend after the Super Lig side lost their first choice shotstopper, Ugurcan Cakir, to Galatasaray less than a week ago.

Flight scheduled

According to Turkish outlet Sabah, Monday was to play host to a final meeting in which Trabzonspor would come to an agreement over the terms of a deal with Onana, after days of progress over the move.

No issues were anticipated in gaining cohesion between the parties and the move is expected to be finalised before Onana flies to Turkey on Thursday — just a day before the window closes.

Amorim sanctions move

United boss Ruben Amorim is said to have been central to the decision to see Onana depart in the coming days and the Portuguese coach had two key reasons in sanctioning the move.

The 40-year-old was reluctant to keep four goalkeepers within his squad but also was keen to avoid the furore and coversation that could be ignited if Onana continued to be present among the substitutes given his profile, per Fabrizio Romano.

United hope the move will take at least one element of pressure off Senne Lammens as he prepares for his first stint in the Premier League after joining the club from Royal Antwerp.

It is also hoped that the transfer will allow Onana the opportunity to start on a regular basis and to find his own confidence and form.

Pay boost

Despite only moving on loan, it is reported that Onana could see his salary boosted as a result of the deal taking him to Turkey in the coming days thanks to a signing-on fee and bonuses.

talkSPORT also suggest that the goalkeeper asked for a pay rise at Old Trafford this summer with player wages widely impacted from the club's failure to qualify for European football last term.
