Outspoken Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony believes Coventry City should be the subject of a ‘proper’ football documentary charting the club’s journey back to towards the Premier League.
The Posh chairman says he has messaged his opposite number with the Sky Blues, Doug King, to congratulate him on the recent purchase of the CBS Arena and job he’s doing at the club, and says he just ‘loves’ Frank Lampard’s ‘attack, attack, attack,’ brand of football.
Speaking on his latest edition of his The Hard Truth podcast, MacAnthony said: “ Coventry... Coventry... I messaged Doug (King) and said jeez, they’re going to put you in the EFL Hall of Fame already. I have been hanging around for 20 years, what a job he’s done there.
“I will always look on, never with jealously, only with envy of people who do well and me wanting to do the same. And everything he’s done there has been pitch perfect.
“And Lampard’s got them, umm... I love the scorelines. You know, they’re my kind of scorelines. I mean attack, attack, attack, concede a couple of goals but score enough goals. I love that.
“Coventry fans have had some **** to deal with over the years with the amount of times they have been displaced from their stadium; travelling to Northampton, travelling to Birmingham... We (Peterborough United) played them at Northampton.
“There has to be a documentary about that club, going to League Two under (Mark) Robins and coming from the doldrums and being in League Two, winning the EFL Trophy. There has to be a documentary of comebacks.
“The minute they get to the Premier League, that’s the next proper documentary, you know, not all the other ones. That’s going to be a really interesting one, the way they found their way back.”
