Carmelo Anthony Names His All-Time Starting 5

Carmelo Anthony is an NBA legend, so it only makes sense that his all-time starting five is populated with other historic icons of the league.

Anthony was recently asked about his dream starting five, and he pulled out several players he used to battle with and against.

“Point guard, I got a chance to play with him, Derrick Rose. Shooting guard, I played with AI. Threes, T-Mac. Fours, I would say Garnett. And then at the five, Shaq is Shaq,” Anthony said.

This is a great list and one that hasn’t been used often.

It’s surprising to see Anthony leave out players like LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant, but these five stars feel fitting for him.

They all played with a level of intensity and confidence that Anthony also had while in the league.

In fact, some of these athletes could be aggressive and in-your-face at times.

A lineup featuring Rose, Iverson, McGrady, Garnett, and O’Neal would be downright terrifying to opponents.

Anthony knows that all too well because he played against these players during his career.

That career was recently celebrated as Anthony was officially inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

It was a well-deserved honor for Anthony, who was in the NBA for 19 years and secured an average of 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists on 44.7 percent from the field.

Anthony doesn’t play anymore, but his value is still greatly respected by millions of basketball fans.

His dream starting five is a reflection of how he played and what he values in basketball stars.
