When Jayson Tatum was injured last season, the [Boston Celtics](https://www.thecoldwire.com/sports/nba/boston-celtics/) knew it was bad.
Right away, people predicted that he’d miss all of 2025-26 with his Achilles problem.
Sure enough, he is expected to sit out of the new season, but Celtics teammate Jordan Walsh said he’s headed in the right direction.
Speaking to NBC Sports, Walsh claimed he’s seen a “big difference” with Tatum.
> “I’ve seen him from when he messed up his Achilles to now, and it’s a big difference. He’s moving around way better,” Walsh said.
This is undoubtedly great news for the Celtics, but it doesn’t change the timeline for Tatum’s return.
The Celtics will still be without their star player, but they are hoping to make the best of 2025-26.
They have already made some pretty shocking offseason moves in order to give them financial freedom.
They are clearly trying to put together a roster that can tread water until Tatum is back, whenever that may be.
Walsh is surely ready to do more for his team.
Last season, he averaged 1.6 points and 1.3 rebounds for the Celtics, only appearing on the court for an average of 7.8 minutes per game.
Walsh might get more minutes, and others will also be asked to contribute more.
The Celtics will need all hands on deck if they wish to compete and actually make an impact on the Eastern Conference.
This update about Tatum is promising, but Celtics fans should still expect to experience the season without him.
He will take all the time he needs in order to heal so he can be ready for the many years ahead.
