The Washington Wizards have a long way to go before they are thought of as a true threat in the Eastern Conference.
They have some promising stars in their lineup, but they also have plenty of room for growth.
Writing on social media, Sam Vecenie summed up what he wants to see from Bilal Coulibaly in the new season.
“Not wildly enthused by Bilal Coulibaly’s Eurobasket, but he’s the type of player who is more valuable in NBA due to his rangy defense, length, ground coverage in a wider offensive zone, and his uptempo athleticism. The offensive skill level absolutely needs to take a leap, too,” Vecenie posted on X.

Coulibaly has been in the league for two seasons, with an average of 10.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists on 42.7 percent from the field.
The Wizards are hoping to see even more from him in 2025-26.
The team has undergone some changes recently and parted ways with of their biggest names, giving Coulibaly a chance to make a larger impact.
However, they also added players like CJ McCollum and Cam Whitmore, which means Coulibaly will have to learn how to share the court with them and their forms of offense.
People like Vecenie are expecting more from Coulibaly in the new season, but he will have time to adjust, evolve, and grow.
Because predictions for the team are low, Coulibaly can take his time to find his footing and improve his game.
There still isn’t a lot on the line for the Wizards, at least not yet.
But if Coulibaly isn’t able to take a significant leap in 2025-26, many analysts and fans will be asking questions about him.
