Newcastle United’s Emil Krafth has admitted he understands the supporter reaction towards Alexander Isak and the manner in which he left the Tyneside club for Liverpool.
The 25-year-old striker was determined to join the Reds and forced a move by refusing to go on a pre-season tour or train with Newcastle’s first team. He had to wait until deadline day to secure a move to Liverpool for a British record fee.
Isak is currently part of the Sweden squad for the ongoing international break, where he reunited with his former Newcastle teammate, Emil Krafth.
The latter has been speaking about the frontman and Sportbladet have relayed his comments.
Isak received a backlash from Magpies supporters for the manner in which he conducted himself to force a move. The fullback understands them as well as Isak and has sent a message to the Newcastle fans.
“It’s not easy that way. But you have to try not to read too much into it. You understand both sides. The fans’ frustration and wanting to keep their best player. And you understand Alex, that he might want to take the next step,” he said.
The British press reported in the summer that there was a division within the Newcastle dressing room because of the Isak saga. However, the fullback has wasted no time in dismissing it.
