Ryan Giggs snubbed by Premier League as 15 other players shortlisted for Hall of Fame

The 2025 shortlist of nominees for the Premier League Hall of Fame has been unveiled, but one glaring omission stands out - Ryan Giggs is once again absent from the 15-strong list.

Manchester United legend Giggs has been conspicuously missing from the nominated players since the Hall of Fame's establishment in 2021, following a series of personal scandals including an affair with his brother's wife, a fling with former Big Brother contestant Imogen Thomas and the breakdown of his marriage.

Giggs also stepped down as Wales manager after being arrested on suspicion of assault in 2020. He denied the allegations, and he was cleared in 2023 when his ex-girlfriend Kate Greville withdrew from the trial.

The 51-year-old has not returned to management since, but currently serves as Director of Football at Salford City.

Despite Giggs' absence, several of his former United teammates have made the cut. Patrice Evra and Teddy Sheringham are nominated for the first time, while Gary Neville, Michael Carrick, Nemanja Vidic, Edwin van der Sar and Michael Owen return having been previously shortlisted.

Supporters have until September 15 to cast their votes for the next inductees into the Premier League Hall of Fame via the league's website and app.

The final decision will be made by the current 24 members of the Hall of Fame, including footballing legends Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.

Giggs, a stalwart of Manchester United, made an impressive 632 appearances in the Premier League and featured in a total of 963 matches across all competitions for the Red Devils.

His illustrious career saw him lift the Premier League trophy 13 times, along with four FA Cups, four League Cups and two Champions Leagues.
