Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has won the La Liga Manager of the Month award for August 2025, the league confirmed on Monday.
In Alonso’s first month in charge at La Liga, Real Madrid went three wins from three and secured a decent lead at the top of La Liga, scoring six goals while conceding just one.
The other managers in the running were Alonso, Ernesto Valverde of Athletic Club, and Manolo González of Espanyol.
Valverde was the only other coach whose team had won all their matches in August, but Alonso’s Real Madrid had a better goal record.
To do this in his first month in the league is pretty impressive, and he would be expected to rack up a few more sooner rather than later.
Alonso wouldn’t necessarily care about this, though, as the main goal would always be to win games, not awards. But it seems like a nice bonus to have.
