The Buffalo Bills defeated the Baltimore Ravens on “Sunday Night Football” by a score of 41-40, marking the highest-scoring matchup of Week 1 and an early nominee for game of the year.
After trailing 20-13 at the half and then 40-25 with just four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Bills mounted a comeback for the ages, erasing a 15-point deficit in the closing minutes to knock off one of the Super Bowl favorites.
It was just the third time in team history that Buffalo overcame a 15-point deficit and the first time in NFL history a team lost when scoring 40 or more points and rushing for at least 235 yards.
After the game, another stat emerged shedding a negative light on Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, as the game marked his 17th blown double-digit lead in an NFL game, the most by any coach since 1991.

The Ravens were dominant for much of the game, yet Buffalo scored 16 unanswered points in the final four minutes to win on a 32-yard Matt Prater field goal at the end of regulation.
Josh Allen completed 33 of 46 passes for 394 yards, two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns for the Bills, while Lamar Jackson hit back with 209 yards and two touchdowns on 14-of-19 passing, along with 70 rushing yards and another score on the ground for the Ravens.
Baltimore’s Derrick Henry might have been the player of the game if not for the loss, finishing with 169 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries (9.4 average), despite a late fumble that shifted momentum in Buffalo’s favor.
Baltimore’s Zay Flowers also ended with a career high in receiving, posting 143 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven catches, as did Buffalo’s Keon Coleman, who hauled in eight receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown.
