Commanders' Jayden Daniels Gets Harsh Message From Giants' Pro Bowler

On Sunday, the Washington Commanders reminded the New York Giants that despite mistakes and sloppy play, they'll still find ways to beat them.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels guided the team to a 21-6 win in Week 1 behind his 68 yards rushing, 233 yards passing, and one touchdown pass on 19-of-30 completions.

However, Daniels also took three sacks from the Giants' defense during the matchup for a loss of 21 yards.

Two of those sacks came courtesy of defensive end Brian Burns, who finished with six tackles in the Giants' loss.

After the game, the two-time Pro Bowl representative spoke to reporters and had some interesting remarks about Daniels.

Asked if he'd learned anything new about the Commanders quarterback from the game, he replied, "he talks a lot."

"Yeah, cool dude, but he talks a lot. I don't want to talk to you," Burns said, explaining, "He just be talking like, 'Hey buddy.' I don't want to talk to you."

"Yeah, he's a smart guy, trying to get in my head," the Giants defensive end said, agreeing with a reporter's remark.

Whatever Daniels is doing, it's been successful for his team thus far. Last season saw the Commanders reach the NFC Championship Game before suffering a disappointing loss to their NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Daniels also received a sweet postgame honor when legendary quarterback Tom Brady, who now calls games on Fox, awarded him the LFG Player of the Game plaque for his performance.

"We played sloppy, but we executed enough to get a win," Daniels told Brady, who talked to him after the game.

It's not the first time he won the award, as he earned the plaque earlier this year in his team's 2025 NFC Divisional Round win over the Detroit Lions.

Previous LFG winners have included star quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson.

It'll be a quick Week 2 turnaround for Daniels and the Commanders as they visit the undefeated Green Bay Packers for a Thursday night game on Amazon's Prime Video.

Burns and the New York Giants will try to get their first win as they visit the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon.
