Manchester United will restart their English Premier League campaign next Sunday but they aren’t sure about the return of Matheus Cunha yet. Manchester United faced Burnley in their last match before the international break. Although the men in red bagged all the three points, Cunha had to leave the pitch after sustaining a probable hamstring injury. The medical team immediately informed Ruben Amorim to sub him off. Due to this injury, Matheus Cunha had to withdraw his name from the Brazil national camp. But he has shared about his recovery updates as he is aiming to get fit before this season’s first Manchester Derby.
Matheus Cunha Has Already Impressed Manchester United Board
Manchester United haven’t succeeded in changing the same old story of having a horrendous start to the season. While Manchester United supporters had hoped for a better start to the season than the past few years, Ruben Amorim’s boys failed to deliver. First, the club lost their season opener against **Arsenal.**Then, they dropped points against a spirited Fulham. In the meantime, Manchester United were already out of the Carabao Cup. Their last league match before facing Manchester City were against Burnley at home. Manchester United earned a hard-fought victory at last. But the fans are already fuming. Ruben Amorim is already under heavy scrutiny but he is calm. Matheus Cunha has turned out to be the only bright side of Manchester United’s first week. From day one, he has shown his proper intent and hunger of winning every duel and chance. Amorim isn’t playing Cunha like he used to play at Wolves. Here in Manchester United, Cunha plays a much deeper role and starts the attack from the midfield. His ability to carry the ball to the opponent’s box has already started creating free chances for Manchester United to score. But Bryan Mbuemo and Benjamin Sesko have failed to do so. Even Cunha is yet to score. But this agile Brazilian has already become an irreplaceable part of the team squad. Fans can see how much pressure he has taken away from Bruno Fernandes while creating chances. Against Arsenal, he singlehandedly challenged the Arsenal backline. This sudden injury has already created a void in the starting eleven.

The Injury Update of Matheus Cunha
Initially when Cunha had to leave the Old Trafford due to his injury, Ruben Amorim was afraid that he might lose Cunha for weeks. But after doing an MRI, the club has confirmed that Cunha should be back within days. The club advised Cunha not to participate in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and the 26-year-old Brazilian did the exact thing. He used this international break in recovering as soon as possible. Cunha has shared some pictures of his recovery training on social media. While leaving the Turf Moor, Cunha was seen walking out with discomfort. Later he has also confirmed about his fast recovery. “I’ll be back soon, always with joy and gratitude. Thanks for all the messages.”– thanked Matheus Cunha to the well-wishers. But Cunha’s unavailability isn’t the only concern for Manchester United. Another player has suffered a niggle. Mason Mount had to take extra loads in back-to-back matches for the club. When Mainoo came on to replace him against Burnley, clearly, Mount was exhausted. As of today, the talented attacking midfielder will miss the Derby. Mount has just begun to play regular games since recovering from a long-term injury. The attacking midfielder has also impressed the fans. But Amorim has already made up his mind of playing Mainoo in place of the unfit Mount.

Matheus Cunha Might Return Just in Time
Manchester United board hasn’t yet given any latest news of Cunha’s possible return from injury. But the fans are expecting Cunha to at least play a half against the Cityzens. Ruben Amorim is still unbeaten against Pep Guardiola and he wants to keep that intact. On the other hand, Manchester City have also begun the season in the worst way possible. They will face the Red Devils after back-to-back losses. Manchester City won’t get the services of Ryan Cherki for at least two months. So, if Matheus Cunha rejoins the squad, Ruben Amorim’s side has the better chances of winning the Manchester Derby.
Stay tuned for more news.
