Arsenal winger faces uncertain future in North London

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will hope to see his side return to winning ways when they face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Gunners won their first two matches of the new Premier League season but a 1-0 defeat against reigning champions Liverpool last time out brought an end to their perfect start.

The Spaniard could hand a full debut to new signing Eberechi Eze against Forest, with the midfielder having made a substitute appearance against the Reds after joining from Crystal Palace.

Eze is likely to feature both centrally and on the left flank at times for the Gunners this term, but it also appears that one of Arteta’s other attackers could soon be on his way out of the club.

As per CaughtOffside, winger Gabriel Martinelli faces an uncertain future at The Emirates with Arsenal having considered allowing the player to leave during the recent transfer window.

It is claimed that the north London outfit quietly pondered the idea of selling Martinelli over the summer, although their £60 million valuation of the player was higher than that of interested clubs.

Many of the clubs that showed interest in the Brazilian are said to value him at a figure closer to £40 million, the report says, with Italian side AC Milan currently regarded as showing the most interest in the player.

Martinelli, 24, joined the Gunners from Brazilian side Ituano back in 2019 and has since scored 51 goals and registered 29 assists in 227 games across all competitions.

The Brazil international’s current contract with Arsenal is set to run until the end of the 2026/27 season, but the report suggests that clubs could look to lure the player away from London when the transfer window reopens in January.
