The New York Giants lost to the Washington Commanders 21-6 on Sunday afternoon. There were already questions about quarterback Russell Wilson potentially heading to the bench in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys in favor of quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Well, head coach Brian Daboll announced on Monday afternoon that Wilson is going to be the Week 2 starter for the Giants against the Cowboys. New York fans did not like this move at all. If the Giants offense sputters once again in Week 2 against Dallas, then there is a good chance that the switch to Dart can very well happen.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter Believes That the New York Giants Could Soon Turn To QB Jaxson Dart

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart (6) is shown during the first quarter, Thursday, August 21, 2025, in East Rutherford.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was on the Pat McAfee show on Monday afternoon. One of the biggest topics on shows today was whether or not the Giants are going to turn to Jaxson Dart in Week 2 against the Cowboys or not. Well Schefter was on McAfee’s show and said about New York potentially starting the former Ole Miss Rebels quarterback soon,
“The time to go to Jaxson Dart for the New York Giants is coming.. We don’t know if it’s gonna to be this week or next week but his time is coming.”
There could be a chance that Wilson could get benched in Week 2 for Dart, but that remains to be seen. If the offense sputters and if Wilson plays the entire game against Dallas, then Daboll wants Dart to play in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Giants home opener. New York is in a must-win situation in Week 2 for the Giants against Dallas.
The Giants can’t afford to drop to 0-2 again. If New York were to lose once again in Week 2, Daboll’s seat and general manager Joe Schoen’s seat will be getting hotter. In order for their seats to cool off, then they need Dart to start and show wins in order for their jobs to be saved also.
