Possibilities for Ben Sheaf's shirt number at Wrexham amid potential Arsenal and England…

Wrexham snapped up Ben Sheaf on transfer deadline day, as the former Arsenal midfielder completed a £6.5million move from Coventry City.

Wrexham will return to Championship action in just a matter of days, as Phil Parkinson takes on Queens Park Rangers.

We could see three debutants after Wrexham capped off a busy transfer window with a late flurry of activity.

Three signings arrived on deadline day, with Ben Sheaf, Issa Kabore and Dominic Hyam all arriving before the window closed.

Fans are looking forward to seeing the new boys in action as Parkinson weighs up throwing them straight into action.

Ben Sheaf’s potential shirt number at Wrexham

Sheaf could make his debut against Queens Park Rangers this weekend, though Parkinson may ease him into action.

The 27-year-old has only played seven minutes of Championship action this season, and those came in the first game of the season.

Sheaf then missed out through injury against Derby County and Queens Park Rangers, before returning to the Coventry bench against Oxford United.

MORE WREXHAM STORIES

Sheaf has not yet received a shirt number at Wrexham, at least officially, but there are plenty of options for the midfielder ahead of a potential debut.

Numbers five, 11, 12, 17, 18, 22, 23, 26 and 30 are available, and Transfermarkt suggest that Sheaf previously wore number 18 during his time in the Arsenal ranks.

Wrexham’s last number 18 was Sam Dalby, who left the club for Bolton Wanderers this summer.

David Jones, Chris Sang, Jay Harris, Tyler Reid and Rob Lainton are among those to have worn number 18 in recent times.

Sheaf could look back to his Arsenal days by taking number 18, though he did also wear number 12 at times, both for the Gunners and even for England at youth level.

Number 65 was Sheaf’s senior number at Arsenal, but we can’t see him taking such a high number, with 12 or 18 our best predictions.

Ben Sheaf’s Coventry City shirt number is not available at Wrexham

Sheaf may ideally want to take the number 14 shirt, which he wore during his time with Coventry City.

That number is not available at Wrexham, though, as fellow summer signing George Thomason claimed number 14 after his move from Bolton Wanderers.

Sheaf also wore number six at Doncaster Rovers and even in the Arsenal ranks at times, but that has also been taken by a summer signing in Conor Coady.

Wrexham are likely to confirm Sheaf’s shirt number well in advance of this weekend’s game with QPR, though whether he forces himself into the starting line-up remains to be seen.
