Nuno Espirito Santo is set to be sacked by Nottingham Forest after falling out with owner Evangelos Marinakis, according to reports.

The Portuguese has been head coach at the City Ground since 2023, when he replaced Steve Cooper, and he led the club to a European berth last season.

But it was revealed in August that he his previously friendly relationship with Marinakis had turned frosty.

He said in a press conference: “I have always had a very good relationship with the owner, last season was very, very close, almost on a daily basis. This season, not so well.”

Nuno later added that he, Marinakis, and Forest executive Edu would hold talks over the international break to attempt to salvage their relationship.

But new reports from The Athletic now claim that Nuno is set to be relieved of his duties.

The manager market is currently ripe with former Premier League coaches, but Postecoglou is thought to be held in high regard by Marinakis.

The Australian remains a free agent after he was fired by Tottenham earlier this summer, despite leading the club to a first trophy for 17 years by winning the Europa League. His Premier League results were considered irredeemable as the Lilywhites finished 17th, with just 11 wins.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Jose Mourinho is also tipped as a candidate. Forest have spent the international break exploring their options in the market.

Nuno will leave Forest with a 38.36 per cent win rate, having triumphed in just 28 of his 73 matches in charge.
