Both of these teams will look a lot different this season than they did last year, with both sides experiencing changes to key positions. J.J. McCarthy will make his first career start under center for Minnesota, while Ben Johnson makes his head coaching debut for the Bears.
McCarthy was a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but did not play last year after undergoing surgery before the regular season even began. Now healthy, the former Michigan Wolverine takes over for Sam Darnold and will have plenty of weapons around him to help make the transition seamless.
Johnson was the talk of the league last year, establishing himself as one of the top play-callers in the league and the number one candidate to fill a head coaching vacancy. Chicago was the lucky team that was able to bring him on board to turn their franchise around, and Caleb Williams should be in much better hands now under Johnson's leadership.
As the number one overall pick last year, Williams somewhat underperformed as a rookie, but some of that can be attributed to poor coaching, and the former Heisman Trophy winner showed flashes of brilliance at times.
This is a great NFL matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
