The San Francisco 49ers had their entire 2024 season derailed by injuries. The Niners were hopeful that this season would go better for them on the injury front, but after week one, it looks like the Niners are going to be in for another long season.
“Brock Purdy has a left shoulder and toe injury that make him uncertain for Sunday’s game in New Orleans. Kyle Shanahan said the team will see how the practice week goes. If Purdy cannot play, 49ers backup QB Mac Jones would be in line to start,” [reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter.](https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1965182759930134947)
Purdy isn’t the only Niner star who is dealing with injury, either.
“49ers Pro Bowl TE George Kittle is expected to be sidelined multiple weeks with a hamstring injury,” [Schefter tweeted.](https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1965183085248745940)
Fans reacted to the injuries on social media.
“Another 49ers season, another key player made of glass. Kittle might as well rent out a permanent hospital bed,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Here we go again man. Trent and Fred had injury scares during the game too and Brock and Jennings might be out. We just can’t stay healthy man,” someone else added.
“Is anyone on that team healthy?” one fan wanted to know.
It’ll be interesting to se how the 49ers manage if they’re forced to move forward without either Purdy or Kittle.
