Alina Thyregod, Valeb Williams' ex-girlfriend
Caleb Williams was undoubtedly the most celebrated college player to enter the 2024 NFL draft. He already had a Heisman Trophy on his mantelpiece, winning the coveted honor marking college football’s best player when he was a transfer sophomore at USC in 2022.
Hee led the nation that year by throwing for 42 touchdowns, running for 10 more.
Williams became only the sixth sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy, which had been awarded 88 times at that point. But he had one more year of college football to play before he could become eligible for the draft, so he returned to USC for his junior year, when he played 12 games, threw for 30 more touchdowns and 3,633 yards, which only burnished his credentials for the NFL.
Junior Year Brings Major Life Event
But returning to Southern California for his junior, and final year of college brought another momentous event into Williams’ then 22-year-old life. He reconnected with his former girlfriend, Alina Thyregod. The pair rekindled their teenage romance and began a relationship that would last well into his rookie year in the NFL.
What happened next? That is not entirely clear, though Williams appears to have left one possible clue as to why their relationship came to an early end.
Williams Recounts Origin of Relationship
Unlike Kansas City Chiefs future Hall of Fame tight end and his fiancée Taylor Swift, he global pop music mega-star, whose every appearance seems to become major media event, Williams and Thyregod kept their relationship largely out of the public eye for the time they were together.
But in an interview in 2024, Williams made a rare comment about the relationship, explaining how he met Thyregod.
“She is from Europe, Danish. She moved from D.C. because her dad had a job in D.C.. I met her at the end of her tenure. We dated a little bit. Then we ended it,” Williams recounted on a podcast. “Kept in strong communication throughout four years. We’re back dating again.”
Thyregood Reportedly a TV Production Designer
Williams attended Gonzaga College High School in Washington D.C., but chose to play college football at Oklahoma. After his freshman year, he left the Sooners, following coach Lincoln Riley to USC.
As to what Thyregod does for her own living, while some reports have described her as a fashion model, she has also been said to be production designer who has worked for the HGTV cable network, but hopes to break into the fashion industry.
She was frequently seen at Bears games in 2024, supporting Williams.
Sadly, according to a report by SI.com, the couple have now split, a breakup that appears to have occurred sometime over the summer. Thyregood has since posted an image of herself in a European-looking sidewalk cafe, enjoying a summer glass of wine, alone.
Williams Seen Dancing With Hollywood Actress
Thyregod gave no indication of what transpired between her and the second-year Bear quarterback, but there is at least one indication that the relationship may have ended the way so many come to an end — when one member of the couple took up with someone else.
In June, Williams was spotted at the Summer Smash music festival in Bridgeview, Illinois, where he appeared to be together with actress Madelyn Cline.

The 28-year-old movie star has been seen in the whodunit thriller Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery as well as the 2024 drama The Tutor.
