Howie Roseman has done it again, trading for a young, talented skill player in an effort to boost the Eagles’ chances of repeating as Super Bowl champions.
The Eagles are trading for Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby, according to multiple reports on Monday night. The news was first reported by NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.
The Eagles are acquiring Bigsby in exchange for 2026 fifth-round and sixth-round picks.
Bigsby is a 24-year-old with a ton of potential. The 2023 third-round pick out of Auburn is coming off a productive second season in the league. In 2024, he rushed for 766 yards and seven scores on 166 carries (4.6 yards per attempt).
Bigbsy lost out on the Jags’ No. 1 running back job to Travis Etienne this preseason. Jacksonville also has fourth-rookie rookie speedster Bhayshul Tuten out of Virginia Tech. Etienne rushed for 143 yards in Sunday’s opener vs. the Carolina Panthers. Bigsby had only five carries.
But the Eagles gladly took Bigsby, especially considering their current running back depth. Will Shipley, the second-year pro out of Clemson, looked great this summer and locked up the RB2 job behind Saquon Barkley. But Shipley picked up a rib injury in the opener vs. Dallas.
A.J. Dillon, the former Green Bay Packers bruiser, is also on the roster. But Bigsby offers a bit more juice.
Bigsby is also under contract through through 2026 — another bonus for an Eagles team in a Super Bowl window.
Acquiring Bigsby is the second trade Roseman has made with the Jaguars in recent weeks. The Eagles also brought back reserve offensive tackle Fred Johnson.
It’s also the fifth trade Roseman has made since Aug. 17. The Eagles have also brought in Texans wide receiver John Metchie III and Vikings quarterback Sam Howell while shipping offensive tackle Darian Kinnard to the Packers.
