EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Pittsburgh Steelers won on the boot of Chris Boswell, who nailed a 60-yard field goal to put the team up with just over a minute left in their game against the New York Jets.

While the Jets got the ball back and had a chance to win the game, they almost never had that shot. On third down before Boswell’s kick, Aaron Rodgers threw up a fade to Calvin Austin III where there was plenty of contact.

In his postgame press conference, Rodgers says the Steelers outright ‘got hosed’ on the non-call from the referee, and they should have been able to possess the ball the rest of the way.

“We got hosed on a call there that would have been able to run the clock out probably, but Boz (Chris Boswell) bailed us out with an amazing kick,” Rodgers said.

Pittsburgh already received one pass interference call earlier that drive that helped move them onto the edge of Jets territory. On the play, Austin is trying to fight back through the Jets defensive back, who holds his torso and prevents him from extending outside of his frame.

The referees likely chalked it up to hand fighting, but the contact likely prevented Austin from being able to make a serious play on the football in a one-on-one situation.

Either way, the Steelers were still able to win with an impressive offensive performance that put up 34 points in Rodgers’ first start with the team.
