Forest sack manager after weeks of speculation

Nottingham Forest have sacked head coach Nuno Espírito Santo after weeks of speculation.

In a statement released after midnight this morning (September 9), Forest said they were looking for a new manager after Nuno’s 21 months in charge.

Last season, Nuno guided The Reds to seventh in the top flight – their highest league finish in three decades and a place in Europe. He signed a new three-year deal in June, but his relationship with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has soured in recent weeks.

Former Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is thought to be in line as a replacement.

“The Club thanks Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at the City Ground, in particular his role in the 2024/25 season, which will forever be remembered fondly in the history of the Club.

“As someone who played a pivotal role in our success last season, he will always hold a special place in our journey.”
