Andre Onana could be thrown straight in

Andre Onana could go straight into action at the weekend, depending on the decision of the Trabzonspor coaching staff.

This would set the goalkeeper up for a clash with a former Manchester United player, with Trabzonspor set to face Fenerbahce.

Onana would be going up against former Red Devils midfielder Fred, who left United in summer 2023, the same summer the goalkeeper signed from Inter Milan.

Sofyan Amrabat was with Fenerbahce last season, but has since left to sign with Real Betis, where he has teamed up with Antony.

There will be a few familiar faces for Onana in the Fenerbahce team, with the Turkish Super Lig side recently signing Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.

They also boast his former Inter Milan teammate, Milan Skriniar, and his ex-Ajax teammate Edson Alvarez.

Trabzonspor will be underdogs for the clash, with Onana teaming up with ex-City flop Stefan Savic.

Onana can earn bigger move

Manchester United made the decision on transfer deadline day to sign Senne Lammens, shunting Andre Onana down to third choice.

This left Onana with very limited options, having to select a loan deal in Turkey after most of the transfer windows in Europe had closed.

2025/26 can become a platform year for Onana to earn a bigger move. He will still have two years remaining on his Manchester United contract next summer, set to expire in 2028.

Making a strong start against a star-studded Fenerbahce team would be a great way for Onana to make a good first impression.
