Nottingham Forest have relieved Nuno Espirito Santo of his duties as the head coach.
Espirito Santo has been in charge for over two years and guided Forest to seventh place in the Premier League last season.
The Europa League is on the cards for Forest this season, and now, with just over two weeks to go until the first game of that competition, the Reds are managerless.
Forest have been linked with Ange Postecoglou, and that appointment would be universally unpopular with the Forest fan base.
Now, Evangelos Marinakis has to get busy and try to install a new head coach before Saturday’s game with Arsenal.

Three Premier League managers eyed by Nottingham Forest
According to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett, three current Premier League managers are now in the sights of Forest.
He’s suggested that Andoni Iraola, Oliver Glasner and Marco Silva are all admired by the hierarchy, whilst Mauricio Pochettino is also fancied.
In a further claim, it’s believed that no manager has yet been lined up to replace Espirito Santo, although the Forest owner does want to move quickly.

Espirito Santo leaving has placed a bit of a sour note on the start of the campaign, with his final game the disastrous 3-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham at the City Ground.

The Portuguese manager wasn’t the first choice of the fan base when Steve Cooper departed in December 2023, but he quickly won them over.
After keeping the team in the Premier League during the 2023/24 campaign, Forest went on a fantastic journey in 2024/25 and qualified for the Europa League.

Espirito Santo will now need replacing, but he not just leaves a big hole at the football club but also in the hearts of supporters who have really warmed to him.
Now, it’s vital that the next managerial appointment is right from the club’s perspective – and if it’s Postecoglou, Marinakis had better be ready for whatever comes next from the fan base.
