“I’m more mature” – Burnley youngster expects growth this season

In the summer transfer window, Luca Koleosho left Burnley to join Espanyol on a loan deal.

The Clarets saw the winger score twice last season, with the player showing glimpses of his potential.

Burnley will hope the stint in Spain will help the 20-year-old grow as a player, and Koleosho is already impressing for the Italy U21s side.

He scored for them against Montenegro U21s last week and he has now spoken to [FIGC’s official website](https://www.figc.it/it/nazionali/news/accelerazioni-brucianti-e-rigore-vincente-col-montenegro-%C3%A8-stato-koleosho-show-siamo-un-gruppo-forte-che-pu%C3%B2-arrivare-lontano/) about his situation.

Koleosho explained his period at Burnley has helped him improve, saying: _“I will always try to do my best to get there. Today I am a more mature player than in the past. My strengths remain my speed and dribbling. I’ve also changed clubs, I’m in Spain and I expect to grow further.”_

The player went on to say that whilst he has mixed heritage, he feels Italian and representing the country makes him proud.

_“I always talk to my mother and my entire family of Italian origin to try to improve the language. I speak four languages and it’s difficult to learn them all well, but I’m working hard on this aspect too, because I’ve always felt Italian, and playing for the national team is everything to me, an unforgettable experience.”_

The attention on the attacker is certainly growing in Italy, as he was [also in line](https://sportwitness.co.uk/someone-like-that-national-team-boss-surprisingly-name-drops-burnley-player/) for a call-up to the senior national team earlier this year.

For Espanyol, he’s made one appearance so far as he came off the bench against Osasuna, as he looks to push to become an important player for the Spanish side.

The key for Koleosho should be to become a more consistent player as this was missing from his approach at Burnley. Scott Parker’s side would hope that the talent returns to Turf Moor as a better player next summer and becomes part of their first-team.
