Ben Simmons remains unsigned for the 2025–26 season, with reports of a rejected Knicks offer now disputed. SNY’s Ian Begley says no formal deal was made, though New York remains interested.

Reports around the league went into the extent that Simmons is even considering retiring, but there are teams still interested in his services.
One of the most frequently linked teams has been the New York Knicks. While multiple outlets reported that Simmons had rejected a minimum contract from New York, SNY’s Ian Begley pushed back, noting that no formal offer has been made.
According to Begley, the Knicks have indeed shown interest and held dialogue with Simmons’ camp during the offseason, but reporting that a deal was extended — and declined — is inaccurate. New York currently has one open roster spot and several options.
Simmons is on the list, along with Landry Shamet — who spent last season in New York on a one-year deal — and Malcolm Brogdon, who appeared in just 24 games for the Wizards due to injuries.
As for Simmons, he split last season between the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers after securing a buyout to end his three-year tenure in Brooklyn.
Across 56 games, he averaged 4.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.4 rebounds.
