Manchester United target Adam Wharton could explore a Crystal Palace departure after the season, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
The England international is likely to consider his options after the 2026 World Cup, as he remains focused on completing the season at Selhurst Park under head coach Oliver Glasner, despite previous links with a move to Man United.
Romano claims Wharton was never open to the idea of leaving Palace this summer but could change his stance next year, with several Premier League and Spanish clubs, including Real Madrid, closely monitoring his situation.
Man United targeted a new midfielder last month but ultimately pulled out of the chase for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba due to the south coast club’s significant fee demands.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Wharton could end up leaving Crystal Palace in 2026 amid interest from several English and Spanish clubs:
“I think if something happens, it’s going to be after the World Cup, but for sure, now, the focus of the player is on Crystal Palace.
“He didn't want to move this summer, and he was not pushing for a move, because he's fully focused on Palace.
“Then in 2026 I would not be surprised if something happens, because Premier League clubs, but also clubs in Spain, including Real Madrid, are monitoring the boy, and so let's see what's going to happen.”
Wharton has made 49 appearances for Palace to date, registering six assists and helping the club lift their first major trophy by winning the FA Cup last season.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who joined Palace from Blackburn in January 2024, is under contract until the summer of 2029, which gives the Eagles a strong negotiating position if any interested clubs come calling next year.
Palace’s summer business saw them sell star forward Eberechi Eze to Arsenal and almost part ways with captain Marc Guehi, whose £35m move to Liverpool was called off at the very last minute, as Glasner’s side were unable to sign a replacement in time.
Man United, meanwhile, opted to sign a new goalkeeper late in the summer window, with Belgium international Senne Lammens joining from Royal Antwerp on a long-term deal on transfer deadline day.
