Rhodri Giggs’ tweet is going viral after Man Utd legend brother Ryan is left out of PL Hall of…

Ryan Giggs’ brother, Rhodri, has spoken out after the former Manchester United winger was once again snubbed for the Premier League Hall of Fame. It was announced on Monday that 15 players had been shortlisted for induction into Premier League history, potentially joining the likes of Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Wayne Rooney.

The shortlist included Gary Neville, Edwin van der Sar and Cesc Fabregas. Yet, despite being the most decorated player in the competition’s history and ranking third on the all-time appearances list, Giggs was once again overlooked. This prompted his younger brother, with whom the Welshman has a chequered past, to publicly comment on the decision to exclude him.

On Sunday, the Premier League's official X account posted an image of the current inductees to the Hall of Fame as they teased the reveal of the shortlist for the next two entrants. Responding to the post, Rhodri slammed the fact that his older brother had yet to be included, accompanying his tweet with a video of the Welsh wizard at his absolute best.

"13 Premier League medals and countless goals and the record number of Premier League assists. #TheShamHallOfFame."

The words of support may come as a surprising one given the person giving them, considering the Giggs brothers have suffered from a contentious relationship ever since the former Red Devil was caught having an affair with Rhodri's partner at the time.

However, his point on the number of records that Giggs has racked up does remain true, with the nearest challenger to his 162 Premier League assists being Kevin de Bruyne, who is still 43 behind the Welshman.

The famous United number 11 has also spoken out about not be included in the hall of fame before now, telling Rio Ferdinand back in April: "I don't think about it until you just brought it up. I don't think about it. I think when you start off, you don't... These are the things that you're not striving for. You're striving off to win games and try and win trophies. That's the most important thing for me.

"I did want to entertain. I wanted to entertain in training. I wanted to entertain myself. At United, you've got to win. But at the same time, if you can entertain and try things—you know, try little nutmegs, try little tricks, try and take players on."

Although no formal reason has been provided for Giggs’ absence from the Hall of Fame, BBC Sport reported in January 2025 that many believe his omission is linked to controversies surrounding his character.
