Opinion: Thomas Tuchel's latest comments offer Everton's Jack Grealish fresh England hope

Everton will soon see all of their players return to Finch Farm over the coming days from the international break.

A bright start to the season under David Moyes was brought to a halt following the victory against Wolves just over a week ago.

The summer transfer window was a success, and Moyes was delighted with some of Everton’s signings.

There have been some particular bright sparks in the opening games of the term, with Jack Grealish particularly impressing.

Wayne Rooney has praised Grealish for his personality away from the pitch, having celebrated the forward’s upcoming birthday at the weekend.

The 29-year-old would have hoped for an early birthday present from Thomas Tuchel in the form of an England call-up.

That did not prove to be the case, but Grealish has now been offered some further England hope by the German manager.

Following the squad announcement, Tuchel praised Grealish and said he remained in his thinking.

However, Tuchel wants to see Grealish continue his early Everton form for a longer period before potentially making a return to the England squad.

Speaking to ITV Sport ahead of the latest World Cup Qualifier against Serbia, Tuchel has provided Grealish with some further optimism.

When asked whether he picks on form or reputation, Tuchel said: “Form is the outstanding factor.”

“And then, the longer I am in the job, it will count if the player had an excellent camp with us, if he plays excellent football for us in the international phases, and if he has a difficult phase at his club it will always count.”

Sean Dyche has claimed he tried to sign Grealish for Everton before he parted ways with the club back in January.

Under Moyes, the 29-year-old is already flourishing and setting the pace in the Premier League with four assists.

If he can continue this form, it will surely become impossible for Tuchel to ignore Grealish.

Grealish needs to show consistency at Everton

It has been a stunning start to the season for Grealish having been released from his shackles at Manchester City.

Grealish has proven Simon Jordan wrong already having made an electric start on Merseyside.

The forward will have to prove a number of other people wrong this season, as he looks to make the World Cup squad next summer.

Clearly, Tuchel is opening the door for Grealish to make his England return, but the German will want to see him maintain this form over a longer period than just three games.

Louis Saha has backed Grealish to make an England return, but it now seems to be in the hands of the player.
