The Nuno Espirito Santo era at Nottingham Forest is finally over after just shy of two years.
The Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, parted ways with his head coach this morning, with a replacement set to be appointed later today.
Ange Postecoglou is the man chosen by Forest to steer things forward, with Marinakis viewing him as the number one choice for the position.
The appointment of the Australian is unlikely to go down well at the City Ground, given that he finished 17th in the Premier League with Tottenham last season.
Forest now have big games to look forward to following the international break and there really is no time to waste for the new man.
Ally McCoist thinks he knows how Forest players will feel after Nuno sacking
There’s never a dull day at Forest and this decision does feel a little bit inevitable.
Espirito Santo had a bust-up with Edu and ultimately, he’s struggled to bounce back from that with Marinakis taking action.
This morning on TalkSPORT, McCoist has made a claim about how he thinks the players will be feeling and he’s probably got a point.

He said: “We’re not surprised, are we? He shouldn’t have taken him on, should he? From our point of view, Marinakis is great; he gives us plenty to talk about.
“The boys who are playing will obviously like the manager, but there’s always one or two who aren’t playing who will always have an opinio,n but the one thing looking at Forest is that there is great camaraderie around the place, it’s a great place to go.
“A lot of the old boys are always there, it’s really enjoyable. It’s a gamble to change the main feature of that in the manager, so yeah, there’s no say in this. Another thing you have to say is that it’s a difficult act to follow.
“There will be a great number, the majority of players will be disappointed in that dressing room this morning.”
Postecoglou has it all to prove at Forest
This is not an appointment to excite the fan base at Forest.
Postecoglou finished 17th with Tottenham last season, and ultimately, that is shocking form for a billion-pound institution.
Although he did win the Europa League with Spurs, the domestic form represents a massive cause for concern.
McCoist is right. Lots of players have really rediscovered themselves under Espirito Santo and now they have to hope that Postecoglou remains the man to get the very best out of them.
Watch this space, but this could be a really risky appointment from a Forest perspective.
