Alejandro Garnacho told he sent a ‘bad message’ at Chelsea with what he did ‘from the get-go’

Manchester United’s biggest sale of the transfer window was Alejandro Garnacho’s transfer to Chelsea for £40m, but he’s been told he’s already made a bad impression at his new club.

The circumstances surrounding Alejandro Garnacho made it so that £40m is a low fee compared to his pedigree and experience.

At the same time, there was never a way back at Man Utd for him after falling out with Ruben Amorim due to questions over his professionalism.

Now that he’s ready for a fresh start at Chelsea, his “dream club” and only destination he wanted in the summer, he’s been told that he’s already sent a ‘bad message’ with what he did immediately after joining.

Alejandro Garnacho’s ‘bad message’ to Chelsea

Garnacho’s move to Chelsea didn’t make much sense from a sporting perspective, and the gauntlet for him to establish himself is clear.

Chelsea flip players regularly, and they could very well see Garnacho as an asset to be flipped due to his low buying price, instead of a player to be played.

It is up to Garnacho to force himself into Enzo Maresca’s thinking and become an established player at Chelsea, but he’s not off to a good start, according to Ben Foster.

Foster, speaking on his YouTube channel, said that Garnacho has already made a bad impression at Chelsea with how he conducted himself in his first public appearance at the club.

Garnacho was seen in the stands for Chelsea’s game against Fulham, and Foster didn’t like the company he was keeping and how he carried himself.

Foster said: “When Garnacho signed for Chelsea, he had his brother with him? He was acting as an agent for the day. It’s a good wage for a day, that agency fee! What I just think is that he just sends such a bad message from the get-go.

“It just sends such a bad message to start with. Put your tie on, dress up nicely and smartly, and get the contract signed.”

Garnacho will be judged on his performances on the pitch

Foster is correct in his own regard because he comes from an era where these little things mattered, but the reins have loosened a little.

Ultimately, Chelsea won’t be concerned much by what he’s doing off the pitch and who he is keeping company with if he produces on the pitch.

It goes without saying that off-pitch habits do have a tendency to affect performances on the pitch, in which case Chelsea might intervene.

For now, everybody will hope Garnacho succeeds at Chelsea (just not against Man Utd), because United hold a sell-on clause as well.

The better he does for them, the more the chances that United are in line for a windfall when he’s eventually, inevitably, sold.
