Opinion: Everton player has to make first start vs Aston Villa after international duty heroics

Everton return to action at the weekend with Premier League football picking back up after the international break.

David Moyes will have his fingers crossed that the final group of players make it through without any injury issues over the coming hours.

Everton have already seen Vitaliy Mykolenko return from his international duty due to an ongoing injury concern.

The Toffees have made an impressive start in the Premier League, but they will face an Aston Villa side desperate to put their first win on the board.

There have been a number of impressive performers for Everton in the opening weeks of the new term.

Moyes was left delighted with Everton’s transfer business, but there are still some players who are yet to really feature under the 62-year-old.

On the back of the international break, one player has shown his quality as he bids for a spot in the starting XI this weekend.

His showing for England U21s may have just shown Moyes that he is ready to play on the weekend against Aston Villa.

49 touches

83% pass accuracy

9/15 ground duels won

4x was fouled

3 tackles

Everton fans praised Dibling following his performance against Kazakhstan, but they are yet to really see the forward in action on Merseyside.

Ironically, Aston Villa were also keen to sign Dibling, and it could be Unai Emery’s side who the youngster makes his full debut against on Saturday.

Dibling should start for Everton against Aston Villa

So far this season, Carlos Alcaraz has played a role in the three behind the striker, but a more natural option is now available in Dibling.

Gary Lineker was so impressed with Dibling during his opening campaign in the Premier League with the Saints.

Moyes has now got Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Iliman Ndiaye and Dibling at his disposal.

If Dibling does not start for Everton at the weekend, it may well suggest that Moyes has a long-term plan to slowly integrate into the starting XI.

Dibling is excited to play alongside Grealish and Ndiaye at Everton, and this weekend could well be his opportunity to shine.
