Jayden Daniels, quarterback for the Washington Commanders definitely had a pretty great start to his second season with the team. Daniels and the Commanders managed to defeat the New York Giants in the season-opener on Sunday, establishing a strong start to their 2025 NFL campaign.
Meanwhile, Daniels’ mother, Regina Jackson, celebrated yet another sweet moment right before the Week 1 game kicked off. Jackson shared a photo of herself and Michelle Greenhouse posing with NFL legend Tom Brady. Jackson was clearly delighted to meet the seven-time Super Bowl winner and captured her sentiment with a sweet caption.

In the Week 1 matchup against the New York Giants, Jayden Daniels managed a single touchdown for the team with 19 pass completions out of 30 attempts. On the ground, running backs Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Deebo Samuel each contributed a single score to the team.
After their win against the New York Giants, the Washington Commanders will be looking forward to their Week 2 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. The Commanders entered the regular season losing all the three games in the preseason and will try to use their boost from the season-opener to try and establish a winning streak soon.
Jayden Daniels Honors Great Grandmother With Helmet Decal
Meanwhile, Jayden Daniels not only impressed fans with his performance in the Week 1 matchup against the New York Giants, but also had a unique decal on his helmet. Daniels’ helmet displayed a Japanese flag and for curious fans, the quarterback explained later that he was honoring his maternal great-grandmother, who was indeed Japanese.

“My great-grandmother is Japanese, so I’m showing love to her.” Jayden Daniels explained to reporters about his helmet decal.
The Japanese flag was positioned right below the USA flag on Jayden Daniels’ helmet, intriguing audience members. Daniels managed an impressive rookie season with the Washington Commanders, even going on to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year title. The quarterback will be eager to up his stats from the 2024 campaign where he passed for 3,568 yards, scoring 25 touchdowns.
The Washington Commanders themselves are hoping to get a lot closer to the Lombardi Trophy this time out, and possibly even lift it. In the 2024 campaign, the Commanders only managed to get as far as the NFC championship and were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles.
