Simon Jordan can be very picky with who he does and doesn’t like.
And former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou can be a marmite figure. Largely adored during and since his time in Glasgow, he has been a more divisive character in the Premier League.
And it now seems that he is making his return to that division, with an agreement to replace Nuno Espirito Santo at Nottingham Forest being widely reported.
Current Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was also initially linked with the vacancy, but a pre-existing relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis has led to Postecoglou being offered the role.
And despite Postecoglou winning the Europa League in his second season at Spurs, famously delivering on his promise of silverware, Jordan isn’t fully convinced by his managerial ability.

Postecoglou’s personality isn’t for everyone – he is unwavering in his convictions, both when setting up his teams and addressing the media.

This has been both a blessing and a curse. At Tottenham, extremely poor league form was at odds with a historic run in Europe – but for Jordan, the league form cannot be forgotten.

Speaking on Talksport, he said: “I’m a great liker of Postecoglou. I haven’t changed my view about his personality – I have changed my view about his capability.
“You look at the ridiculous way that Ange kept asking for the media to hit him with a brick – so they did – he kept on giving them the brick to throw at him.
“And then eventually produces a team that finishes 17th in the league, and scrapes by an awful Europa League final. Against anyone else, they probably would have got beaten.
“Has Ange Postecoglou’s reputation been enhanced by Spurs? I can’t say it has. And that’s coming from someone who likes the cut of his jib.”
Marinakis clearly also likes the cut of his jib, giving him another crack at the Europa League – will he win it in his first season this time around?
Ange Postecoglou could now face Celtic in the Europa League
Given Celtic’s reluctant participation in this season’s Europa League, Postecoglou is now a potential opponent for Rodgers’ side, should they progress through the tournament.
There is already plenty on the Parkhead boss’ plate, with fans unhappy at a club statement in his final contracted year in Glasgow.
But should things begin coming together on the field, the encounter would be fascinating. The pair have shared a dugout before, when Rodgers’ Liverpool visited Australia in a pre-season tour,
Since then, they have both made their mark at Celtic Park. Postecoglou will be hoping to do similar in Nottingham, just like he has at previous clubs.
