Zinedine Zidane future takes fresh twist amid new job ‘talks’ and Jose Mourinho fallout

Zinedine Zidane has been constantly linked with a move to Manchester United but the former Real Madrid boss has now made a decision over replacing Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce

Zinedine Zidane will not be taking over at Fenerbahce despite having been touted as a replacement for ex-Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese coach was sacked by the Turkish giants last week after their failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Fenerbahce have been on the hunt for his successor ever since, with former Real Madrid boss Zidane reportedly in the running.

It was suggested that Fenerbahce were confident of appointing Zidane as their next manager.

The 53-year-old has been out of work since 2021 after a successful second stint with the Spanish giants.

Zidane won two La Liga titles, three Champions League trophies and a whole host of other trophies with his ex-employers.

But Zidane will not be on the way to Istanbul after all, according to reports in Turkey.

As per Ensonhaber, Fenerbahce are now expected to name former Schalke, RB Leipzig and Belgium boss Domenico Tedesco as their next head coach.

He is anticipated to be appointed in the near future, with Gokhan Gonul set to join him as his assistant.

Tedesco led Leipzig to the German Cup in 2022 and has been tasked with lifting silverware in his first season in Turkey, with the league title among his targets.

Fenerbahce currently sit fifth in the Turkish Super Lig after three games of the season, having won two of those.

The Italian's previous job came with the Belgian national team but was sacked after just 24 games in January.

Tedesco’s managerial debut with his new side could potentially come this Sunday as Fenerbahce welcome Trabzonspor.

United goalkeeper Andre Onana could potentially be in goal for that game, with the Cameroonian on the verge of completing a season-long loan move to Trabzonspor.

It brings to an end a hugely disappointing two-year spell at Old Trafford where errors have blighted Onana's displays.
