“How Can This Game Count” Bears See Soldier Field’s Crooked White Lines Go Viral, Fans…

The Chicago Bears hosted the Minnesota Vikings for the first Monday Night Football game of the season. What started out as a fairly dominant game by Chicago, wound up being an epic come back for Minnesota. A 21 point fourth quarter fueled a 27-24 win for JJ McCarthy and his young team.

However, fans couldn’t help but notice the state of Solider Field during the game.

It was the NFC North showdown between Caleb Williams and JJ McCarthy that concluded Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season:

Williams had quite the rookie campaign as the first overall pick in last year’s NFL Draft, but Chicago lost a lot. Coming into 2025, the questions had already begun, with an NFL insider pointing to him possibly having a learning disability.

He showed early on that he knows football quite well, as he started the contest throwing 10 for 10 from the field. However, his good play still couldn’t separate much from the Vikings as their defense kept them in the game.

Another thing that was evident during the clash at Soldier Field was that someone surely did not care much about the job that they were paid to do.

Two screenshots from Monday Night Football showed that someone didn’t bother to get the lines straight on the end zone, and social media certainly noticed it.

Fans were quick to react to these pictures:

The Bears choked away a very winnable game.

J.J. McCarthy, who had questions about how good he might be all off-season, looked like a mistake for three quarters until he finally turned it on.

McCarthy rallied to lead the Minnesota Vikings to a dramatic 27-24 win over the Chicago Bears in his first NFL debut.

Trailing 17-6 after three quarters, the Vikings scored three unanswered touchdowns in the final frame as McCarthy shook off Nahshon Wright’s 74-yard pick-six in the second half.

After that moment, McCarthy seemingly woke up, throwing touchdown passes to Justin Jefferson and Aaron Jones in the fourth quarter before calling his own number and running one in with less than three minutes left.

The Bears went from being celebrated all night long to being booed by the home fans in the fourth quarter.
