The Chicago Bears had a 17-6 lead in the game against the Minnesota Vikings, and it appeared as if Chicago was going to coast to its first victory of the season. Quarterback Caleb Williams was not playing great in the game, but J.J. McCarthy outplayed him when the game was on the line.

The Vikings were able to get out of Chicago with a 27-24 win over the Bears. Minnesota goes to 1-0 on the season and Chicago goes to 0-1 on the season. A lot of people were not impressed with the way Williams performed. He completed 21-of-35 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown. Williams also rushed for 58 yards on six carries and one touchdown. This was the first game he had Ben Johnson calling the plays for him.

Williams was the number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He had some ups and downs during his rookie season. Williams had more ups and downs during his first game of the 2025 NFL season. Some Bears fans did not like what they saw from him in this game. This is what some fans said about him on Twitter:

After Mitch, Justine, and now Caleb, can we admit, not seeing these guys play more than a handful of snaps in the pre-season is not a good sign?

The Bears are invested in Williams to succeed. This is why they hired Johnson to be the head coach. He was the Detroit Lions offensive coordinator for the last couple of years. Chicago and Detroit are both 0-1 and they will face each other next Sunday.
